Apricots originally came from China, but arrived in Europe via Armenia, which is why the scientific name is Prunus Armeniaca. Turkey, Italy, Russia, Spain, Greece, USA and France are the leading producers of apricots. Apricots are consumed as fresh fruit, but also dried, cooked to dough and eaten as jam. They have a delicious, sweet taste that is ideal for snacking or adding recipes and baked goods.
